It has been 3 months since the second season of K-ON!! began and it is still gaining large popularity, despite being a late-night show.

One reason for its popularity is Kyoto Animation's pursuit for detail on scenery. Almost every background images in the anime are modeled after places and buildings in Kyoto area so you can actually visit there and re-experience the story.

Toyosato Elementary School building we are going to show you is the model of Sakuragaoka Girls' Highschoolwhich the protagonists attend in the anime. The school was relocated in 2004 and its remaining building is now used as a town library, thus accepts visitors.

The Toyosato Elementary School building.

You fans have probably seen this building for million times.

The building in the left of the gate is used as visitor information center.

It's only five minutes or so from Toyosato Station of Ohmi Railway so they got a time table for visitors.

They also provide rental bicycle for sightseeing around the school.

Three-storied building.

The school was originally built in 1937, designed by American architect William Merrell Vories.

In 1999, town mayor of the time came out with a plan to break down the building and rebuild the school. After a long opposition campaign of residents, it was decided to preserve the building and use it as a town library.

70 years' history made the place even more beautiful.
