Tokyo Toy Show 2010, July 15-18: Overview

International Tokyo Toy Show 2010, the biggest toy industry trade show in Japan, opened today at Tokyo Big Sight, Odaiba. Only trade visitors and the press are admitted for today and tomorrow, but the fair is open for general public on Saturday(9:00 to 17:00) and Sunday(9:00 to 16:00), admission free.

We'll be posting lots of coverages from the site, and each post will be linked from this post later on.

Tokyo Big Sight. The nearest stations are Kokusai-Tenjijo Station on Rinkai Line or Kokusai-Tenjijo-Seimon Station on Yurikamome.

Show held on July 15 and 16 is a trade show solely for business discussions, and people who are not engaged in business will not be admitted. End consumers are welcome on Saturday and Sunday, and there will be many events including workshops, game competitions, quizzes and puzzles the kids can participate. Many costumed mascots will be walking around the site that you can take pictures with, and samples of toys, confections and drinks will be given away.

The venue is West Hall 1 to 4.

Opening ceremony was held on the stage. Various concerts will be held here on public days.

Tokyo Toy Show attracted 157,572 visitors last year, and as much are expected this year. The motto of the event is "EnterTOYment - toys make the world smile." More than 100 companies will present their latest and finest products, including games, dolls and stuffed toys as well as seasonal and electronic toys.
