Postage Stamp Collections featuring Manga Characters from SHONEN SUNDAY and SHONEN MAGAZINE

Weekly comic magazines Shonen Sunday and Shonen Magazine celebrated their 50th anniversary this March 17th as we've reported recently. JP Post released commemorative postage stamp sheets on the same day, featuring popular manga characters from the two magazines including Lum Invader, Tiger Mask, Cyborg 009, Kitaro and many more.

Each sheet are priced at 800 yen (about 8 dollars) for ten 80-yen-stamps.
The clerk at our local post office kindly put them in glossy plastic wrapper. Perhaps most people preserve them as whole sheets, instead of using them.

But wouldn't it be great to receive a postcard with these stamps? If you happen to be in Japan you should definitely send some to your friends. You can check the rates and delivery days here.

Osomatsu-kun, Makoto-chan, Kamui the Ninja and Ganbare Genki.

Pa-man, Urusei Yatsura, Dame Oyaji, Cyborg 009, Pro Golfer Saru and Touch.

8 Man, Tiger Mask, Kyojin no Hoshi(Star of the Giants) and Karate Baka Ichidai(The Fanatic Karate Generation), a karate manga classic which gained huge popularity in Japan at the time and was adapted to live action movies.

GeGeGe no Kitaro, Ai to Makoto, Tensai Bakabon, Tsurikichi Sampei, Tomorrow's Joe and Tonda Kappuru(The Terrible Couple).

Urusei Yatsura by Rumiko Takahashi of InuYasha, who is launching a new serial manga series this April.

Cyborg 009 by Shotaro Ishinomori who holds the Guinness World Record for most comics published by one author.

Tomorrow's Joe, late Yukio Mishima's favourite manga.

Tsurikichi Sampei, which was recently adapted to a live-action film by Academy Award-winning director Yojiro Takita. You can see trailers on official Japanese website.

Touch, a baseball rom-com classic by Mitsuru Adachi whose ongoing manga series Cross Game is adapted to TV anime starting this April.

And of course, you can't forget Kitaro.
