Night 13 "Symbiotic Planet" and Night 15 "Elliptical Orbit" from Yukinobu Hoshino's sci-fi manga series 2001 Nights are adapted to 3D anime film TO directed by Fumihiko Sori of live-action film Ping Pong and anime film Vexille, to be released in DVD and Blu-ray on December 18, 2009.

It became clear that TO is to be aired on TV ahead of the release, quite extraordinary for an OVA(straight-to-DVD anime). A ten-minute special trailer came out on YouTube and NicoNico Douga.

(Japanese)"TO" to be aired on TBS and BS-TBS::TO NEWS

Director Fumihiko Sori says he's been awed by the manga 2001 Nights when it first came out in the '80s and adapting it to a film in some way, either live-action or anime, has been one of his greatest ambition since the beginning of his career. Twenty years on, armed with the latest computer animation technologies, he was finally able to live up to his ideal. TO is to go on sale in DVD and Blu-ray on December 18. The DVD already came out for rental in October, proving to be quite popular and receiving good reviews. Propmpted by the great reception, some TV airings were scheduled and announced on November 12.

TO will be aired on TBS and BS-TBS, both prior to the DVD and Blu-ray release. TBS will air it in the 26:59-27:35 slot on four consecutive Thursdays from November 26 to December 17. BS-TBS will air it two days in a row on November 24(Tue) and 25(Wed) from 22:00 to 22:54.

Some awesome space battle scenes were edited as a ten-minute special trailer, posted on YouTube and Nico Nico Douga.

Space opera goes well with 3D anime.
